What do you think is worse, being ignorant, or being narrow-minded and why?

  2. Ignorance is worse, but there is a cure.

  3. As I understand it, ignorant person is the one who is lacking education or is being uninformed. And one who is narrow-minded is a person with lack of tolerance and/or petty. Being ignorant can be really annoying especially when the person is being a “smart-ass”, however narrow-mindess is one of my biggest pet peeves, therefore I have to say the latter.

  4. I think narrow-minded people are worse because they can never understand the actions of those who are large hearted and broad-minded. But you can always educate ignorant people and they would be willing to go out there and appreciate what other people have to offer and contribute.

  5. The recipe for perpetual ignorance is a very simple and effective one: be satisfied with your opinions and content with your knowledge

  6. Narrow minded people will never see their ignorance. The rest of us take pride in correcting our own ignorance.

  7. being narrow minded is worse, end of story. i don’t care what anyone else has to say on this issue.

  8. Ignorance is worse, if you are narrow-minded at least you accept culpability for being narrow-minded and therefore you can take steps to correct this. Whereas you’re so ignorant that you cannot even see that you are ignorant.

  9. Narrow - for you cant blame the person for being ignorant. Cant blame one with a “single-cell”.
Narrow you can blame them for they are ignorant and aware of that fact.

  10. Narrow-minded is definitely the lesser of the two negatives since it can be positive if it is narrowed into the right direction. Ignorance is just flat out bad in practically any situation.

  11. My first answer was ignorant, but after some thought I realized that one can be ignorant without it being their fault….a simple lack of education. Where being narrow-mined is a choice, and thus worse.

  12. Well given that the two types of people usually coincide, I guess the question is asking about the narrow minded people who arent ignorant and the ignorant people who arent narrow minded.

Subjectively, narrow minded people are worse because I just dont like them :). Objectively, atleast they know about the other opinions and they have consciously come to the decision that they stick with. So given that they acutally have an opinion, (albiet not the same one as mine) there really isnt too much wrong with them.

Ignorant people are bad because they havent taken it upon themselves to better themselves but atleast they are not opposed to it.

In short, they are both “worst” in their own different ways so you cant really compare. Personally though, I would rather hang out with an ignorant person, get a little bit of alcohol in them and they are fun :)

  13. I’d have to say both !!!!! jeeej…annoying!
but seeing I have to choose..Ignorant!!!!!because it feels as if u aren’t even puttin any attention to what the other persons opinion…and I hate that!

  14. Truth is relative.. but when it boils down to it - in my humble opinion - ignorance and narrow-mindedness are two apples that come from the same tree; spoiled and rotten as well.

  15. narrow-mindedness is worse as it implies that you might be aware of a better option but refuse to buy in it. Ignorance would mean, you are not even aware of other options.

  16. Being ignorant and being narrow minded go hand in hand. The reason is very simple: only narrow minded people can be ignorant.

By anuja on Mar 17, 2006

  17. Ignorance is bliss.

By kayam on Mar 18, 2006

  18. narrow-mindedness is worse in my opinion. ignorance implies u have no choice in the matter because you don’t know better so u are ignorant. narrow-mindedness on the other hand implies u do know better but still choose to be on one side of the fence about a particular subject.
