Windows 7 & Macbook

After much debating, I decided that today I will take the RC version of Windows 7 and install it on the 13-inch Macbook (white) of mine. After doing some reading on the Internets about Bootcamp and the process involved, I marched on to start the installation process.

The Macbook which I own is a 13″ white macbook with a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2GB SDRAM and a 250GB Fujitsu disk drive. Needless to say, after creating the partition using Bootcamp Assistant and inserting the Windows 7 RC 32-bit disk in the cd drive the mac restarted. I was expecting for the Macbook to boot the disk and bring up the familiar “Loading Microsoft Windows” progress bar type interface.

All I saw was a black screen with a blinking cursor. For a minute I thought that Morpheus had hacked into my Macbook and was going to start sending me messages. For a minute, I felt that I was The One!

I am afraid it was not so. After doing some more reading, I verified the steps which I had taken and it all seemed fine to me. In the last 30 minutes, I have tried the same process 3 times expecting different results. At this point I conclude that Windows 7 does not play well with 13″ Macbooks, unless someone can prove it otherwise.

Linux: 1 – Macbook: 0 – Windows 7: 0
