Four days and counting

May 2, 2006 – 5:23 pm

The time has come for me to move to the new place. Thursday (May 4th) is when I am supposed to get my keys and Saturday (May 6th) is officially my move in date. This will be my first home. A few weeks ago I went for the inspection and got to see the place and I was really excited to see that it was quite bigger then I had thought it would be, which is good. This week my mind has been busy trying to figure out what to do with the place, how to arrange things.

So far I’ve painted a picture in my head of how I want things to be set and the layout of where things would go, but I have nothing to put there. There is no furniture, there is but a simple computer desk, a bed and my filing cabinet. Hopefully the next week that I took off will be a good time to go out and buy some inexpensive furniture and other things and start to arrange them accordingly. I guess this whole process of putting furniture, color and decor will be a gradual process and be a good chance to take myself away from work and other useless things and do something productive and fun at the same time.

So far the plan is on Thursday when I get my keys if my parents are available I will first give them a grand tour of the place and have them be the first people to look at the place. They’ve been a really big part of my life and have supported me mentally in purchasing my first home. I think they are happy that I have an opportunity at a young age that they didn’t have. Although I was having second thoughts of keeping the place and thinking about selling it or renting it out, having a conversation with my parents gave me the confidence that I needed to make the decision to keep the place. The condominium is actually on the same street as my parents but further south and it is easily accessible by a 10-15 minute bus ride or a 5 minute drive.

My plan is to take some pictures before I move in and then after I have moved in and slowly as I start to decorate it and furnish it snap a few pictures to see the progress being made. Look out for some pictures here in the near future.

Cheers!
