Hindi 2 English

Today I was exchanging messages with a close friend and was trying to come up with the English translation of a word that I know in Hindi. The word in this case (as I pronounced and remembered it) was “Imteha”. I knew the meaning of the word, but wanted to validate to make sure that I was correct.

I ended up doing a search using Google on “meaning of Hindi word imteha”. The first result that Google returns is for a site called, Word Anywhere. This is a great site, I ended up entering the word “Imteha” in there and it showed me potential similar sounding words and it also showed me the written hindi text for the similar words. Turns out the word that I was really looking for is pronounced “imtihan”, which means Exam or Test.

This is pretty neat, I will definitely use this site to get some of my Hindi polished again. Yes, I could quite easily pick up a book; but at times when you cannot always carry a book with you this web site should suffice.

Cheers!
