Google Chrome & Co-Browsing

Over the last year or so, I’ve switched over entirely from Firefox to Chrome on all my computing platforms (lin, mac, win). Chrome has provided the reliability and speed which I seek in a modern day web browser. Over time, when Chrome OS comes out and I will most likely move to a device capable of running Chrome OS (tablet or laptop).

One extremely useful feature which I would love to see implemented in Chrome is the ability to co-browse with another Google Account user. If you’ve got a friend or family member who has a Google Account (have a @gmail.com email) wouldn’t it be great if you could browse the same website together with each other? So if your friend in Australia wants to show you something, they simply include you into the tab where they are browsing through a e-commerce site which shows you all different types of products and both can browse the products at the same time, highlight some of the features about a product and the changes would be seen on both ends in real-time.

Another great use case would be to provide some support for your customers who is having some sort of a problem ordering a product from your online website and they happen to be running Chrome, you can easily co-browse through the shopping process to pin point the root cause by seeing exactly what the end-user on the other side is seeing.

Others out there can probably think of many more relevant scenarios to make a case for such a feature, these were just the first two which I thought of this Saturday afternoon.

Just a thought. Google, I look to you to make this happen in the near future. You’ve already done something similar with Wave and I am pretty sure you can do it again with Chrome.

Cheers!
