Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon)

October 19, 2007 – 12:49 am

Finally Ubuntu 7.10 was released on October 18, 2007. And I decided to upgrade (the broken) installation of Ubuntu 7.04 on my desktop. I am impressed with this release, lots of neat stuff in there, specially compiz fusion support out of the box. That is a HUGE WOW factor!

But, I am sad to say that dual monitor support isn’t there (atleast it did not work for me, out of the box) and I am going to see if it can be configured manually.

Screenshot of my Ubuntu desktop linked.

Gutsy with dual monitor support

Cheers!

Yahoo! GO 2.0

August 1, 2007 – 12:19 am

A few days ago, Yahoo! released their Yahoo! GO 2.0 application for the Cingular 8525 Windows Mobile phone. Being a gadget geek, I had purchased this phone sometime around March 2007 and have started using it again. With the release of Yahoo! GO 2.0, I decided to check it out and install it to give it a try and see what the buzz was all about. The beauty of the phone is that being a 3G phone, it has built-in WiFi access. This is great, when you want to jump onto a free WiFi HotSpot and check your email. What’s great about Yahoo! GO 2.0 is that, it allows for all the information to be at your fingertips. The Windows Mobile application allows you to check real-time traffic along with weather, sports, news, and your Yahoo! powered email.

Following are some snapshots I took of the application on the Cingular 8525. Read the rest of this entry »

After spending the most memorable six days of my life in the great province of Newfoundland and Labrador, I am back home in Toronto. Only to fly out to Tampa, FL for work. Over the weekend, if and when I have some free time I intend to update this entry and write a little more about my trip to Newfoundland and the great people I met and new friends that I’ve made there.

Cheers!

Update: Added some pictures from the trip.

Ingredients of Success

July 3, 2007 – 8:31 pm

I haven’t written anything on here for a while. I came across a great article today. It mentions a few good points of what success really means and how it should be defined. Having read the points, I felt the need to share it with whomever that might be interested. The article can be found at, Success Recipes. Read the rest of this entry »
